How do actors reposition their racialized bodies on stage and on screen? How do Sinophone cinema and theatre interact with Shakespeare’s plays? How do directors transform gender roles? Bringing film and theatre studies together, this presentation sheds new light on the two major genres in a comparative context, reveals deep connections among Sinophone and Anglophone traditions and the new creativity the cultural exchange has made possible.
