Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Global Shakespeare Studies
Queen Mary University of London and the University of Warwick, UK
The Fulbright is an international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Distinguished Chair award is among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program.
During her time in the UK, Alexa Alice Joubin studied the transformations of racial and gender identities of characters and actors in global adaptations of Shakespeare. As an Asian woman, her presence in the Shakespeare classroom in London enabled students of color to see themselves and inspire them to study English literature.
